The Story of our Mini Houses
29th January 2019
Today we wanted to tell you the story of our mini houses, these cuties are one of Emma's favourites and they all came about to make sure that little off-cut of wood didn't feel left out!
So sit back and relax as we tell you it’s story... It started out life as a big beautiful (sustainably grown) pine tree before being turned into a scaffolding board, being used on a really large commercial site somewhere in Devon or Cornwall. Unfortunately for the tree, being made info a scaffolding board would mean it’s new life would only last a few weeks...it soon found itself sitting back in a warehouse destined for the fire or landfill!
Meanwhile Mike was working through a batch of reclaimed boards, heading out to hotels, cafes, restaurants, shops and homes to live long happy lives in the wild, but Mike was running out of the boards fast so we popped and order in for some more, that big beautiful scaffold board we were talking about earlier just happened to be one of the ones on its way to our workshop, it was the happiest board in the pile as its made its way to live in our workshop, it’s luck, it thought, was about to turn, excitedly expecting to be hand-crafted into one of our benches.
Sitting with the other boards in the store it watched as they were being sent out to live their new happy lives, finally being pulled from the shelf, it was cut into chunks ready for their new lives, but a few little blocks found themselves in another box ready for the fire!
“Oh no, not again...there must be something you can do with me” it cried out from the box...
Luckily Emma heard its tiny little cry and set about designing something beautiful to live in your home, that's where this little a set of three mini houses came to life! The perfect little decoration to show your love for reclaimed wood!
